Prestidigitation of Oracle: IOUG RAC Attack! ... I surrender!!!

Glad you're plugging the event. I've had a lot of involvement with the event and we're doing a lot to make the event a success. Wish you could make it--if it's successful, I hope that IOUG will consider bringing it back for another offering in the future. Maybe you'll get another shot, but the future is uncertain, so to be sure you get to attend, sign up as soon as possible!

I don't mind plugging things that look interesting to me. I wish I could have gone as well. I hope there is a next time prior to Collaborate '09!!

Maybe...find a few friends that want to attend and it'll make it a lot
easier to sell the idea. Consulting is available too :) Contact me via
email if you're interested in that option.

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for kind words! I think my clusterware presentation went quite well today and even though it was a bit deep for a beginner thread, it was very well focused and I'm proud I could demonstrate all node eviction scenarios as planned - you know your get those all the time in production unexpectedly but when it comes to reproducing them...

Anyway, hopefully your colleagues were satisfied. Please let me know what feedback you get and encourage them to comment on my blog (http://www.pythian.com/blogs/1158/ioug-rac-atta...) whether they liked something or not.

    Cheers,
    Alex

No problem. I was happy to promote the event. I'm glad to say we don't get node evictions all the time in our production RAC , but I do agree they can be difficult to reproduce; especially if they aren't related to the Oracle stack.

It sounds like my colleague got a lot out of the event. He particularly enjoyed the labs. We built all our RAC environments before he came on board, so he hasn't had a chance to install anything yet.
